The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two cases of animal cruelty and neglect involving more than 70 cats and dogs after responding Monday to one home on KY 56 and another on Sycamore Street.

According to DCSO, Animal Control officers and patrol units encountered approximately 50 cats living in unsanitary conditions at the home in the 10000 block of KY 56. The cats reportedly had inadequate food and water, and many showed signs of severe neglect — with some near death.

The cats were seized and transported to It Takes a Village for treatment and care. Both homeowners were charged with second-degree cruelty to animals and were cited to appear in court, authorities said.

Later that day, Animal Control officers — assisted by Owensboro Police Department officers — responded to a residence in the 500 block of Sycamore Street. According to DCSO, they found 22 dogs living in similar conditions, with an unsanitary environment and inadequate space to house that number of animals. Some of the dogs also showed signs of neglect, a release from DCSO says.

A criminal summons was issued to the homeowner stemming from a prior animal cruelty investigation, according to authorities. The Sheriff’s Office said the latest circumstances remain under investigation and additional charges are pending.

The individuals charged and under investigation have not yet been identified.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
