BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – This weekend, Dave’s Famous T&L Hot Dogs will be hosting its Grand Finale Car Cruise event at their Rosebud Plaza location.
The family owned business has been serving the North Central West Virginia community since 1984; and has expanded to seven locations during that time. Although it is fall, this is last of the restaurants summer events and they as well as owner, Mike Henderson, plan on going out in style. Offering live music, prizes and entertainment the whole family can enjoy. With of course some really cool cars.
“So, the Car Cruises started thirty years ago, and it was actually to be exact 29 years ago. They started because of our theme as kind of the oldie’s diner, so somebody approached us a long time ago that we should do a Car Cruise; and we had no idea what that was at the time. This particular cruise in, is our grand finale cruise in for the year. So, we’re going to have live music there, we’re going to be giving away free prizes. We encourage people to come out just to check out the old cars and walk around. It kind of has a fair feel to it.”
You don’t have to have a vintage car to enjoy this cruise, as everyone is welcome. Hoping to bring the community just a little closer together.
“It’s a 100% just come as you are. Bring your old car if you have one, bring your new car if you have one. We don’t judge the cars, so we do have a sectioned off area where we park the older cars in; and people just walk around. There’s no registration, there’s no fee’s, everything is 100% free.”
This weekends event not only provides a chance to enjoy your neighbors company, but also take in that last bit of summer feel.
“It’s important just because we love giving back to the community and everybody always looking for things to do and this is such a family-oriented event. Young and old, everybody enjoys the old cars. They’re old muscle cars coming in and roaring; and those cool sounds. The live performers that we have is Top Shelf, is the name of the band this year. They’re a local band that everybody knows if they watch the music scene, they’re very popular. You can win some free prizes, great food, and a great atmosphere. We just enjoy giving back and kind of taking it all in.”
