Dakin Humane Society welcomes transport dogs from shelter hit by Hurricane Helene

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, a South Carolina animal shelter is sending a dozen dogs to Dakin Humane Society to make room for animals affected by the storm.

Starting on Friday, adoption fees will be cut in half as Dakin continues facing crowding issues of their own.

Dakin is also appealing to the public to assist the Aiken County Animal Shelter in South Carolina by bringing donations of cat and dog food, both dry and canned, in unopened containers, as well as dog toys, to the shelter before October 9.

All food and toys collected will be placed in the transport vehicle and brought back to South Carolina, which is currently without electricity.

The animals from down south are set to arrive at Dakin one week from today on October 10.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
