Dad charged after 3-year-old daughter mauled to death by dogs

CINCINNATI (WXIX/Gray News) – A father in Ohio is now facing charges after his 3-year-old daughter was mauled to death by two dogs in December.

Warren Houston was indicted on one count each of involuntary manslaughter, endangering children, and reckless homicide, according to Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich.

The charges stem from the death of his daughter, Kingsley Wright.

On Dec. 27, 2024, Kingsley was mauled by two dogs inside an apartment in Roselawn, Cincinnati police said.

Warren Houston was charged in connection with a dog attack that killed his 3-year-old daughter just days after Christmas.

According to 911 calls from the father, Kingsley was asleep in the living room on the couch when she was attacked.

“I just woke up, and my daughter is dead. There’s blood everywhere, I don’t know what happened,” Houston told dispatchers. “I don’t understand what went on.”

As emergency crews headed to the Roselawn apartment, the dispatcher advised the man to “put away” any pets, but the father claimed the dogs were already caged.

“They’re in the cage, that’s why I’m like, ‘Did any of my pets attack her or something?’” he said.

“Were they out loose?” the dispatcher asked.

“No,” the caller responded.

Cincinnati Animal CARE was dispatched to the scene that morning and removed three dogs from the home.

Ohio law says dogs who have bitten someone should be quarantined for at least 10 days for rabies observation. Additionally, the owner of the dog(s) is held liable if the animal causes injury or death.

“This is a heartbreaking and devastating case. No family should have to suffer such an unimaginable loss. While nothing can undo this tragedy, we are committed to ensuring accountability and justice,” Pillich wrote in a statement following Houston’s indictment.

In her obituary, Kingsley was described as a “happy girl with a beautiful laugh and smile” who loved to sing and dance for her family.

Kingsley “always saw the positive and bright side of everything around her,” the obituary says.

The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
