Cumberland County man tried to give up dog by reporting it as found

CAMP HILL, Pa. (WHTM) – Police say a Cumberland County man falsely reported that he found a dog only to find out it was his own.

East Pennsboro Township Police say on June 6 officers were dispatched to Camp Hill for a found dog. Officers met a man who said he found the dog walking around and wanted to turn it in to the police.

An investigation was conducted and police determined the dog actually belonged to the man. He was charged with making a false report to law enforcement and is due in court later this summer.

This is not the first report of individuals going to the extremes to give up a pet. In May, the York County SPCA shared a video of someone tying a dog to a light pole outside their offices.

“This message speaks to the desperation of our community,” said the SPCA, which noted they’re seeing as many as six to eight dogs come in at a time.

The SPCA noted it is illegal to abandon an animal.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
