A Connecticut woman is facing animal cruelty charges for allegedly leaving two malnourished dogs in an abandoned vehicle in Waterbury, police said.
Kadesha Wilson, 29, was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of animal cruelty, according to the Waterbury Police Department.
On May 29, Waterbury police said they received a complaint of alleged animal cruelty involving two dogs located at a residence on Marley Place.
After an investigation, detectives believe that both dogs were neglected and malnourished by their owner, identified as Wilson, according to police.
Investigators also allege that the dogs were left in an abandoned vehicle with unsanitary conditions until they were found by another person, who arranged for proper care and medical treatment at a local veterinary hospital, police said.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Wilson on Wednesday. Police said she was located Thursday and taken into custody.
According to police, both dogs are currently in the care of a local animal rescue group.
Wilson is currently being held on a $15,000 bond pending court arraignment, police said.
