The North and South Monroe County Community Funds collaborated to help meet a need for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Both organizations, which operate through the CREATE Foundation, collaborated for a donation for the agency’s new search and rescue dogs – Beau and Zita.
“Every time I go somewhere and hear the horror stories about other communities that don’t support police in different areas, I get to tell how ours stands beside us and supports us. We have learned sometimes if there’s a need there and it’s not in the budget and one of these guys says, ‘Sheriff, this is a need,’ we just act on faith. As that word gets out and the community comes around, it’s a beautiful thing to see the hands and feet coming together to make something happen. We’re doubly blessed with this situation,” said Monroe County Sheriff Kevin Crook.
