ANDERSON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – A couple was arrested after three dogs found dead and several others found in deplorable conditions, according to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, in October deputies were called to Lindsey Street. Once on scene, a neighborbor told deputies the homeowners had been gone for weeks, with dogs left behind dragging tethers with no sign of food or water.
Officials said at least 14 dogs were found with feces caked into their paws, ribs exposed and even some facing major medical issues.
Deputies executed a search warrant and found emaciated dogs and puppies, some with visible wounds. More than a dozen dogs were saved, but three had already passed away, deputies said.
The couple, 25-year-old Tyler Jackson adn 24-year-old Courtney Watson, were arrested on Nov. 8, on 17 counts of ill treatment of animals and three counts of failure to bury.
They were booked into the Anderson County Detention Center on an $81,500 surety bond.
