CORVALLIS, Ore. – Firefighters responded to a structure fire early Tuesday morning that severely damaged a Highland Drive home and killed two dogs, according to the Corvallis Fire Department.
Fire officials said fire crews with the CFD and Adair Rural Fire and Rescue responded at about 6 a.m. on December 31 to a house fire on Highland Drive within the Corvallis Rural Fire Protection District. Responding firefighters arrived to find the home was fully involved with fire coming up through the roof and laid more than 1,000 feet of hose fed by water tenders to combat the blaze, according to CFD authorities. Corvallis fire officials said that fire crews contained the fire to the structure and prevented its spread to nearby trees and wooded areas.
No firefighters were injured and the home’s sole occupant was not home when the fire broke out but two dogs who died in the blaze were recovered by fire personnel, according to CFD authorities. Fire officials said that the cause of the fire is under investigation. CFD and Adair Fire and Rescue were assisted by Philomath Fire and Rescue during their response to the incident, authorities said.
