Community stepping in to help after dozens of dogs rescued from possible euthanasia

EMMET COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) — People are stepping in to help an Emmet County animal shelter after dozens of dogs were rescued from possible euthanasia.

The 42 dogs were brought to Little Traverse Bay Humane Society in Harbor Springs Monday after being rescued from a crowded shelter in Louisiana.

Little Traverse Bay Humane Society staff teamed up with the BISSELL Pet Foundation to give them a second chance at life in northern Michigan.

“Just under a dozen animals went into foster yesterday which is really incredible that means that those animals went straight from their transport van, to our veterinary checks, to sitting at home on somebody’s couch, which is is pretty incredible for a lot of these dogs that may have never happened to them before, they may have never been in a home,” said Sarah Schertel, Senior Director of Operations for Little Traverse Bay Humane Society.

You can fill out a form to foster or stop at the shelter in-person from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
