Celebrating the life of a very special dog.

Many local law enforcement officers, other police dogs, and members of the community made their way to Palmer Funeral Home for Sheriff Bruno’s funeral service.

Sheriff Bruno was the St. Joseph County Police Department’s official comfort dog.

His funeral was open to the public and was live-streamed on YouTube.

The service started at 11 a.m., and it highlighted the legacy Sheriff Bruno left behind.

Remarks were made by his handler, St. Joseph County Sheriff William Redman, and others, sharing stories.

Sheriff Bruno was known for his unique way of making everyone feel at ease.

Sheriff Bruno was the first dog in Indiana to formally be designated as a “law enforcement comfort dog.”

He was also the first K-9 to be sworn in as a member of the Indiana F.O.P.

He made countless appearances at schools, parades, career days, and memorial services.

His death comes after a recent cancer diagnosis.

Sheriff Bruno’s obituary can be read at Palmer Funeral Home’s website.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
