Colorado woman arrested after dogs kill her mother

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KJCT) – A Southern Colorado woman was arrested after her mother died from a dog attack.

According to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of an unconscious woman on February 3.

Upon arrival, they found 76-year-old LaVonne Hoff dead, with several dogs running around her home.

Autopsy results revealed her death was attributed to injuries sustained from a dog attack. Deputies say she had dementia and required constant care.

According to KKTV, deputies learned 47-year-old Jessica Hoff left her mother home alone while she ran errands.

After further investigation, deputies found Hoff had 54 dogs and seven birds living in unsanitary conditions at a second property in Colorado City, approximately 27 miles away.

Hoff was arrested for criminal negligence resulting in death and 54 counts of aggravated cruelty.

The animals were seized by Pueblo County Deputies and Animal Law Enforcement.
