COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Colony Cats & Dogs celebrated another successful event with their “Garden Party” at The Fives, emceed by Good Day Columbus anchor Kurt Ludlow.
The event featured music, food, a raffle and silent auction items — but its mission went beyond entertainment.
Colony Cats & Dogs, an all-volunteer non-profit, has been tirelessly working since 2002 to address cat overpopulation in central Ohio. Their efforts have resulted in nearly 26,000 cats and dogs being spayed or neutered, and more than 21,000 pets being placed in loving homes.
The organization operates a cage-free adoption center and a network of foster homes. They also support feral, stray and abandoned animals through a program called TNR, which stands for Trap, Neuter, Return.
Experts estimate that more than 1 million stray and feral cats live in the region. Thanks to Colony Cats’s compassionate and non-lethal programs, homeless cats can live healthier lives while peacefully co-existing with people in the community.
This successful fundraiser highlights how local efforts can make a significant difference for animals in need.
