If you’ve ever had to love a pet through their Chewing Phase, you know that absolutely nothing is off-limits to them. I’ve lost shoes, books, and I am currently sporting an AirPod with at least three teeth marks in it.
One Cockatoo mom has it exceptionally rough, though: on Friday, April 25th, her bird took a chunk out of her Burberry bag! He had no remorse, either!
Rotisserie Cockatoo for dinner, anyone? Charlie the Cockatoo is so lucky he’s adorable: if a human did this to her bag, I bet his mom would be positively losing it!

Charlie Jr. is a terrible bird. He loves to get into trouble, scream in people’s faces, and apparently, he also loves to eat designer bags. This is like, cartoon levels of evil! He’s in his 20s, which for a Cockatoo is very young, so he’s just in a rebellious phase… we hope.

His mom did not think he’d go after her bag: she just left it on the stairs thinking he’d waddle right past it. The fact that he did not is purely just because he chose violence. This bag is made of lambskin and costs anywhere from $500-$900, depending on condition!
And then there’s Charlie, taking a bite out of it like it’s a slice of Costco pizza.
This is an interesting video, because a lot of people genuinely don’t realize how powerful a bird’s beak really is. They spend all day cracking open nuts and seeds in the wild, which means they’re not only strong, but also very sharp.
Many captive Cockatoos get regular beak trims, too, to help keep them in tip-top shape. With a well-kept beak, a Cockatoo can bite with a force of up to 350 PSI: that’s about the same as a Cane Corso. A Cockatoo can bite with the same force as this:

Granted, their mouths are different and would do different damage. However, with their sharp beaks and two perfect pressure points, a Cockatoo bite could certainly send you to the hospital for stitches. They can definitely take a nice chunk out of your arm!
Or, your Burberry bag. Whatever works…
