CMPD seizes 50+ dogs during investigation, throwing animal shelter into crisis mode

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – An additional 51 dogs at the shelter has Charlotte Mecklenburg Animal Care and Control scrambling to figure out where to put all of them. CMPD confiscated the dogs from a case on Wednesday.

Because of ongoing construction at the shelter, and the constant influx of dogs, there were only 14 spaces available prior to the dozens of dogs being dropped off. So often, we hear the kennels are at capacity. Animal Care and Control spokeswoman Melissa Knicely says those warnings are in case something like this happens. She says, “On days like today where we always speculate that if a case comes about, it’s going to be a hardship, today’s that day.”

Knicely says many of the dogs are puppies which means they will be able to put several in one kennel. We reached out to CMPD to get more information on this case. We have not heard back.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
