CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – The Cleveland Animal Care and Control program City Dogs says their at capacity.
“We have animal control officers responding to calls all day everyday,” said Coordinator Leslie.
With every intake the kennel becomes more full.
Right now there are more than 100 dogs looking for a family.
This past weekend City Dogs held a discounted adoption fee event. But with the rain and current economy adoptions were not where they wanted them to be.
“I think if people are struggling financially they might think they are struggling to take care of a pet or more people might not be thinking I want to get a new pet,” said Leslie.
Just this past week the Cleveland food bank saw their food donations cut after federal funds were taken.
And with tariffs and inflation people are trying to figure out how they are going to feed themselves.
But you do have options and there is help out there.
You can find a list of pet food pantries here.
You can find low cost wellness care here.
If you want to adopt a dog at City Dogs fill out this form for a meet and greet.
