CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A Cincinnati man is accused of strangling his elderly dog, resulting in a vet having to euthanize the animal, newly filed court records show.
Richard Orth, 59, of East Price Hill, is held right now on a “no bond” order at the Hamilton County Justice Center.
He is scheduled to appear before a judge at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The Hamilton County deputy dog warden charged him Monday after seeing injuries to the animal’s neck and throat, according to an affidavit.
Orth “strangled his elder dog, causing serious injuries that resulted in the immediate need for vet staff to euthanize the animal,” Deputy Dog Warden Aarron Harrison wrote in the court filing.
Orth faces felony and misdemeanor counts of “Prohibitions Concerning Companion Animals,” court records show.
