Cincinnati Children’s celebrates retirement of 2 veteran facility dogs

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Cincinnati Children’s Hospital is celebrating the retirement of two long-serving facility dogs.

Celebrations were held in the Sabin Auditorium at Cincinnati Children’s Burnet Campus Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Chevy and Leica are two 10-year-old Golden Retriever, Lab, and Poodle mixes that graduated from Cincinnati Children’s Canine Assistants program in 2016.

Chevy has served the hospital for over eight and a half years, spending time with patients in the inpatient units at Burnet Campus. According to Cincinnati Children’s news release, Chevy plans to return and visit patients occasionally as an official health ambassador.

Leica has spent nine years serving the hospital, offering emotional support to patients undergoing medical procedures. Like Chevy, Leica will become a health systems ambassador and visit for special events and fundraisers.

Leica officially retired in Dec. 2024, and Chevy in Feb. 2025.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
