Childhood dog slowly realizes best friend is home from college

The moment the family dog realized his favorite human returned home from college brought people to tears.

It was another day at home for the family dog, Uno. He sat at the door, looking out into the yard. He got used to his best friend, Jeremy, being away at college after six months without him. But a TikTok video posted by @alicia02231987 earlier this week revealed it wasn’t a typical day for Uno.

The dog’s ears perked up when he realized a truck was pulling into the house. But before getting his hopes up about who it was, he looked at Mom for confirmation that his dream was coming true. Uno stood up and started wagging his tail as Jeremy drove down the driveway. After all these months apart, his best friend was finally home.

Uno ran from his spot on the steps to greet his bestie and the two embraced as soon as Jeremey hopped out of the truck, bringing tears to everyone’s eyes.

As beautiful as it was for viewers, the Mom wasn’t surprised. She knew the relationship between these two was special, ever since the family welcomed Uno home when Jeremy was about 14 years old. The two grew up together, making memories and spending every day together.

“I absolutely expected that response,” the mom told Newsweek via TikTok. “Uno is more human than dog.”

Both Uno and Jeremy have kept busy during the six months apart, which hopefully helps distract them from the heartbreak of being apart. Jeremy’s time is occupied between work and school. And for Uno, he’s had his paws full.

Uno fathered his first litter of 11 puppies in November. The family decided to keep the one male who looked like Uno for Jeremy, which he has since named Junior. Now, whenever Jeremy comes home during a break, he’ll get twice the doggy snuggles.

Viewer Reactions

Within two days of being posted, the precious interaction reached over 1.5 million views, 151,100 likes and 1,198 comments on TikTok.

“Fur babies do not forget those who love them,” said one viewer.

A second commented: “He heard that truck way before it could be seen.”

Another pointed out: “The way he kept looking at you for confirmation like, ‘Wait, is that who I think it is mom???'”

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
