U.S. Postal Service employees are known for their ability to complete their appointed rounds through snow, rain, heat and gloom of night. But being exposed to injury from aggressive, unsupervised dogs is another matter.
During the past fiscal year, 113 mail carriers in the USPS district encompassing West Virginia and Kentucky were bitten by dogs. So far this fiscal year, 119 more have been similarly injured, according to District Safety Manager Alan Lewis.
