CARTHAGE, New York (WWNY) – A Carthage woman had to be airlifted to a Syracuse hospital after being attacked by a dog.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to Carthage Area Hospital shortly before 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Hospital officials reported that a woman had been brought in with a serious dog bite injury.
The woman, identified as 27-year-old Amelia McCreery of Washington Street in Carthage, had to be airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
The nature of her injuries was not immediately known.
Officials said McCreery was attacked by a dog that was being walked, but no other information about the incident was available.
According to the sheriff’s office, the dog is owned by 41-year-old Jessica Fuller of Emjay Way in Carthage.
There’s no word on what type of dog it was or what happened to it after the attack.
Officials said the town of Wilna dog warden is involved.
The incident remains under investigation.
