Can Do Canines service dogs in-training visit Menomonie museum

MENOMONIE (WQOW) – Some hard-working dogs were at work today in Menomonie, training to help change lives.

If you stopped by the Rassbach Museum in Menomonie on Saturday, you’d have seen some cute museum guests. A group of dogs with Can Do Canines, training to become service dogs for people who experience seizures, diabetes, autism, or mobility and hearing issues.

Part of their training brings them out into public places, like the museum, to learn how to behave.

“There are lots of different things here they might not experience different places,” Erin Whitfield, a Can Do Canines volunteer, said. “So it helps them to experience different floor textures, different noises, lots of different people, how to behave out in public so that when they’re with their client they’re not overwhelmed by something they haven’t experienced.”

These dogs are close to graduation. After working with their volunteer handlers, they go through final training, and then they are partnered with their person. Can Do Canines is a nonprofit providing service dogs in Minnesota and Wisconsin, click here for more.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
