Only a few more days are left to enter your pups into the St. Paul Union Depot’s Doggie Depot contest, where the St. Paul Winter Carnival’s Canine King Boreas and Canine Queen of Snows are crowned. The winners will be announced onstage with other royalty at the Doggie Depot next month.
Photos must be submitted by Jan. 8. On Jan. 9, all submissions will move forward to the voting round and an online poll will pick the Canine King Boreas and Canine Queen of Snows.
The Doggie Depot will be held at the Union Depot on Feb. 1 with festivities, pups and people.

“It’s so fun to see the community get excited about their favorite dog candidates and even more fun to see all the pups that gather every year for the event. It’s become such a staple of the St. Paul Winter Carnival, and we love being a part of it,” said Union Depot spokeswoman Maurina Rondeau.
Dog owners can enter the contest for free on the Union Depot’s website.
Winners will be announced Jan. 22 on the Union Depot’s Facebook and Instagram accounts.
The free Doggie Depot event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 1 in the waiting room at the Lowertown transportation and event hub. Bringing leashed dogs is encouraged. Activities, a dog-themed marketplace and canine adoptions are included in the programming.
