30th November 2024 – (Hong Kong) A luxury handbag store, Ginza Xiaoma, located at Unit 1705, 16-18 Queen’s Road Central in the New World Tower, was the scene of a dramatic burglary early this morning. At around 7.51am today, staff reported that thieves had smashed through the glass display cabinets and made off with multiple high-end handbags.
Upon arrival, police conducted an investigation and reviewed CCTV footage, which revealed three suspects breaking into the store. The culprits quickly filled three large bags with stolen items before fleeing the scene. Authorities have classified the incident as a “burglary” and are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the individuals involved.
The store’s management has confirmed a major loss, with approximately 66 Hermes handbags stolen, valued at around HK$10 million.
A company spokesperson said that the store had a total of 400 designer handbags in stock and on display. According to CCTV footage, at least three thieves broke in around 7am, stealing 67 Hermès handbags in just five minutes, including 25-inch and 30-inch Birkin bags, as well as 25-inch and 28-inch Kelly bags—four of the most popular styles among customers. One handbag was later found abandoned on the back stairs and has been recovered.The company added that the business had fully reimbursed consignors as per its consignment agreement.
