LONDON (WKRC) – A thief broke into a home and stole over $13 million worth of precious jewelry and designer handbags.
According to the Metropolitan Police, a burglar entered a London home through a window on the second floor at around 5 p.m. on Dec. 7 while its occupants were not home.
In the short amount of time the suspect spent in the home they managed to steal “150,000 worth of Hermes Crocodile Kelly handbags, 15,000 in cash and 10.4m of bespoke jewelry.” That’s $188,706 worth of handbags, $18,870 in cash, and just over $13 million worth of jewelry.
Police said that some notable pieces among the stolen goods included:
- A 10.73-carat diamond ring from Graff
- Two butterfly diamond rings from De Beers
- A 3.03-carat ring, an aquamarine ring, and a “Niloticud Lumiere” necklace from Hermes
- A clip with gold, diamonds, and sapphires, a “Fleur des Mers” ring with diamonds, sapphires, and aquamarines, a platinum necklace/bracelet collection (manufactured in 1978) with diamonds and sapphires, and a gold, diamond, and sapphire necklace, all from Van Cleef & Arpels
- A gold and emerald bracelet and a gold and sapphire bracelet from Chrome Hearts
- Diamond earrings from Chopard
- Pink sapphire earrings shaped like butterflies from Katherine Wang
Police said the thief was a white man in his late 20s or 30s with a medium build. The suspect wore a dark hoodie, cargo pants, a baseball cap, and a face mask during the incident.
Detective Constable Paulo Roberts, one of the investigators on the case, said, “This is a brazen offence, where the suspect has entered the property while armed with an unknown weapon and violated the sanctuary of the victims’ home.”
