CARMEL — Columbus North made its boys volleyball debut as an IHSAA sport and went 0-4 in Saturday’s Carmel Invitational. The Bull Dogs fell to Zionsvile 25-14, 25-16; New Palestine 25-14, 25-15; Columbia City 25-21, 23-25, 15-11 and Park Tudor 25-20, 21-25, 15-10.
Leo Iorio led North with 29 kills and six aces. Kota Kondo recorded 45 assists, and Juan Juan Salcedo Calderon had three blocks.
Also for the Bull Dogs, Anyu Gong pounded nine kills, Noah Dornfeld notched five kills and two blocks, and Yuta Kondo added five kills and two aces. Ramu Alaguppan tallied seven assists, Hank Lin served four aces, and Kota Kondo added two aces.
“We competed and saw some really good teams,” North coach Jeff Case said. “We saw some things we need to work on and clean up. It was good for them to get out there and see some good competition.”
