BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – As Hurricane Milton heads toward Florida’s Tampa Bay area, Broward Animal Care is asking local residents to temporarily open their homes for dogs and cats in need.
According to Animal Care officials, fostering animals during severe weather helps reduce shelter overcrowding, “ensuring that more lives are saved.”

“We need our community’s help more than ever,” said Doug Brightwell, Director of Broward County Animal Care. “Fostering a pet even for a few days can make all the difference. You’re providing safety and comfort and saving a life in the process. We provide all necessary resources, including food, supplies, and support. All you need is a little space and a lot of heart.”
The agency provides food and resources during the duration of the foster period.
