Big Dog Ranch Rescue of Loxahatchee has rescued 48 dogs from shelters in California overcrowded with pets from the fire disaster. Traveling across the country in a large bus, Big Dog Ranch Rescue rescued the dogs from Palm Springs Animal Rescue, which was overloaded with pets from the fire. On the return trip, they picked up another 30 dogs and puppies from Cleveland, Texas, where the animals faced their own tragedy as temperatures dropped to below freezing as the arctic cold front passed through the state this week.Big Dog Ranch Rescue Founder and CEO Laure Simmons said immediate action was needed to save lives:“These dogs are refugees from natural disasters, some from raging fires and some from freezing cold temperatures. It’s fire and ice. They will all now receive the love and attention they need while in our care and will hopefully find families who will adopt them into their new forever homes.”Following a brief period for health examinations and needed treatment the dogs and puppies will be available to foster and adopt at the ranch. More information is available at BDRR.org.
