BENTON, Ark. (KATV) — A Benton woman received between 50-60 stitches on Friday after she was attacked by two dogs on an early morning walk.
According to Benton city officials, a woman was out walking between 3 and 4 a.m. on Edison Avenue east of Highway 35 when two dogs escaped a nearby fence and attacked her.
Officials said that the dogs were a bull mix and a hound mix.
The woman was injured during the attack but was able to call 911 on her own. Sources confirmed that she received between 50-60 stitches due to her injuries.
The Benton Police Department and Benton Animal Services responded to the scene. Authorities say they put down the bull mix due to “aggressive behavior.”
In a separate case, a Saline County 15-year-old was killed by a pack of dogs near Alexander just over a week ago.
Saline County is set to host a town hall addressing concerns about animal control in the county on Monday, Jun. 23.
