Brayan Bello made his fourth, and likely last, rehab start for the Boston Red Sox Wednesday night as the Portland Sea Dogs beat the Hartford Yard Goats 7-5 in 10 innings in an Eastern League game at Hartford, Connecticut.
Reliever Liam Hendricks also had his third and probably last rehab appearance, pitching a scoreless inning with a walk and a strikeout. According to reports, Hendricks could be activated by Friday by Boston.
Jhostynxon Garcia was 3 for 4 with two RBI. He also scored two runs. Garcia broke a 4-4 tie with a single in the 10th inning. Portland tacked on two more runs in the inning when Corey Rosier’s pop in the infield was misplayed and fell to the ground close to the mound without a Yard Goat touching it. Rosier was credited with a single.
Bello pitched 4 1/3 innings, allowing four earned runs. He have up six hits, walked one and struck out seven. He allowed a three-run homer in the first to Bryant Betancourt.
Bello, according to reports, could join Boston and start Monday’s day game at Fenway Park against the Chicago WHite Sox.
