Wednesday afternoon, Bellefontaine Police responded to a complaint about two aggressive dogs running loose in the Oakland Square area.
Upon arrival, officers were flagged down by a witness, who said the dogs had been aggressive in the past and had even tried to bite him.
He also told officers that the dogs belonged to Patrick Lambert, 64, of Bellefontaine, who lives on West Brown Avenue.
Officers attempted to catch the dogs but were unsuccessful.
Two construction workers working near Lambert’s residence also reported that the black dog had tried to bite them earlier in the day.
As officers spoke with Lambert he told them that if they found his dogs, they should “shoot them.”
Lambert had previously cited for animals running at large, making this not his first offense.
Officers issued Lambert a summons for violating City Ordinance 505.01(a) (animals at large).
On Thursday morning, officers were again dispatched to Oakland Square after receiving reports of the same two dogs running loose.
Lambert confirmed that the dogs were his, and once again, he suggested officers shoot them if they found them.
After searching the area, officers located the dogs but were unable to catch them.
Patrick was advised to keep looking for the dogs and assured officers they would return home on their own.
For this incident, Lambert was issued a summons for a second time.
