BRUSSELS — Belgian luxury handbag maker Delvaux sees Asia as a “priority market” and is planning two new openings in Japan in 2025 to offset weakness in China, its CEO Jean-Marc Loubier told Nikkei Asia in a recent interview.
While an expansion of two store openings sounds modest, it is significant for a company whose handbags are sold in a niche market. Delvaux’s best-known Brillant handbags sell for 1.145 million yen ($7,400) each in Tokyo for just the small size, versus Louis Vuitton’s iconic LV-logo Neverfull tote at 276,100 yen.
