
Bad Boys directorial duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah’s Saudi-shot action thriller 7 Dogs has unveiled a first teaser as well as more details on its high-profile international cast.
The $40 thriller headlined by Egyptian stars Karim Abdel Aziz (The Blue Elephant, Kira & El Gin, Abu Ali) and Ahmed Ezz (Kira & El Gin, The Cell, Welad Rizk) is billed as Saudi Arabia’s most ambitious home-grown production since the lifting of its cinema ban in 2017.
Ezz plays Interpol officer opposite Aziz as a high-ranking member of the clandestine global crime syndicate known as 7 Dogs, who are forced into an uneasy alliance to stop the spread of a dangerous new drug across the Middle East.
It is based on an original story by Turki Al-Sheikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, who is best known internationally as a mover and shaker in the international boxing world, with a screenplay by Mohamed El-Dabah.
Shot in and around the Saudi capital of Riyadh this spring, the film is now in post-production for a release later this year.
Al-Sheikh released the teaser above on the social networks today and also unveiled further high-profile cast members including Italian actress Monica Bellucci (The Matrix Reloaded), Bollywood stars Salman Khan (the Tiger franchise) and Sanjay Dutt (Vaastav: The Reality), as well as German-Chinese martial-arts talent Max Huang (Mortal Kombat).
Egyptian actress Tara Emad (The Blue Elephant 2) and Lebanese actress Sandy Bella (Franklin) are also in the cast as elite Interpol agents. Saudi television star Nasser Algassabi appears as General Nasser, opposite Egyptian veteran Sayed Ragab as General Sabri.
The film is sponsored by General Entertainment Authority (GEA) and Riyadh Season and produced by Sela. Production Services by Black Bear. Ivan Atkinson, whose credits include The Covenant and The Gentlemen, serves as the producer of the film.
Cinematography is by Robrecht Heyvaert (Bad Boys: Ride or Die, Ms. Marvel), production design by Paul Kirby (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Captain Phillips), costume design by Beatrice Giannini (Hannibal, Star Wars) and Mark Bouman (Wonka, Bridgerton) and hair & make-up by Jacqueline Russon (Pearl Harbor, The Little Mermaid). Duncan Capp (Batman Begins) serves as the SFX Supervisor.
The stunts are crafted by the 87Eleven team, led by the stunt coordinator Stephen Dunlevy, whose credits include Mad Max: Fury Road and John Wick.
Belgian directorial duo Adil & Bilall are best known internationally as the directors of of the third and fourth installments of the Bad Boys franchise: Bad Boys for Life (2020) and Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024) which together grossed over $830M at world box office.
Their other credits include 2018 Belgium set breakout Gangsta, and its recent sequel Gangstas and 2022 drama Rebel about a Muslim Belgian family dealing with the threat of radicalization at home and in Syria.
