The Hot Tots were back in action on Wednesday, June 12 to face the Mankato MoonDogs in the second game of their two games series. The Hot Tots won Tuesday’s game by a 4-2 score and came into Wednesday’s game looking to clinch a sweep.
The Hot Tots scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning. Evan Dempsey scored on a Keanu Jacob-Guishard putout to put the score 1-0 Minot. Trae Cassidy scored on Nick Alonso double to center field, Alonso later scored the third run of the inning on Jonah Shields triple to center field.
The MoonDogs scored two runs in the top of the third inning. Jackson Waller’s one-run, home run to left field put the visitors on the scoreboard. Gabriel Miranda scored the MoonDogs second run of the game on Riley Jackson’s putout.
The MoonDogs would take the lead in the top of the fourth innings. Andres Castro and Body Delamielleure scored runs off Zach Crandall double to left field, bringing the score 4-3 MoonDogs lead.
Casey Sorg scored a run in the top of the fifth innings to bring the MoonDogs lead 5-3.
The Hot Tots made a rally of their own, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth innings to tie the game 5-5. Cassidy scored on a two-run home run, which also allowed Wyatt Reginatto to score.
MoonDogs wasted no time and retake the lead in the top of the sixth inning. A Miranda double to center field allowed Cooper Neville and Delamielleure to score, extending MoonDog’s lead 7-5. Miranda scored run number eight off Jake Duer single to right field.
MoonDog’s ninth run came in the top of the seventh inning when Castro scored off Neville single to center field.
The Hot Tots Dempsey homered to left field in the bottom of the seventh innings, bringing the score 9-6 MoonDogs. Jonah Shields homered in the bottom of the eight as the score was 9-7 MoonDogs at that point for the win.
The Hot Tots batted 9-for-36 and had three errors. Alonso batted 3-for-4, scored one run,and had a RBI. Shield batted 2-for-4, scored a run and drove in two RBI’s. Cassidy batted 2-for-4, scored two runs, had two RBI’s and walked once. Dempsey batted 1-for-3, with two runs, a RBI and walked once. Elias Fiddler batted 1-for-4. Wyatt scored a run and had a walk. Jacobs-Guishard had a RBI. Tristan Moore had a walk. Mateo Serna had a walk.
Anthony Cordero pitched two innings, allowing one hit, one walk, and striking out four batters. Kell Piggott allowed one hit, two earned runs,and two walks in less than an innings. Jakob Runkel pitched two and one-third innings, allowing three hits, three runs,and striking out four batters. Kaden Arn pitched one inning, allowing three hits and three runs. Rhys Francis pitched one and two-third inning, allowing two hits and one run.
The MoonDogs batted 10-for-39 and had zero errors. Neville batted 2-for-4, scored two runs, had one RBI and had a walk. Sorg batted 2-for-4, with a run scored and had a walk. Delamielleure batted 1-for-3, scored two runs and had a walk. Miranda batted 1-for-4, scored a run, had three RBI’s and walked once. Castro batted 1-for-5, scored two runs, and had an RBI. Waller batted 1-for-5, scored one run, and had an RBI and. Crandall batted 1-for-3, and had an RBI. Duer batted 1-for-4 and had a RBI.
Tate Marland pitched two innings, allowing two hits, three runs and two walks. Aiden Mcgee pitched four and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits, three runs, three walks and striking out four batters. Owen Byberg pitched one and one-third innings, allowing one hit, one run and striking out one batter.
