Autopsy results show Death of Costilla County woman caused by domestic dogs

Domestic dogs are suspected in the January death of 68-year-old Costilla County resident Cindy Denholm. The Costilla County Sheriff’s Office announced the results from an autopsy conducted by the El Paso County Coroner, who concluded Denholm died as a result of multiple injuries from an animal attack, consistent with a canine.

The Sheriff’s Office said in a Thursday Facebook post the Sangre de Cristo Ranches, where Denholm was found on Jan 23, has a history of domestic dogs running loose, “some of which have been feral.”

Swab samples on bite wounds were taken for further DNA analysis, but the El Paso County Coroner said evidence points toward domestic dogs. Colorado Parks and Wildlife found no evidence of other wildlife involvement.

“The Costilla County Sheriff’s Office has been in contact and working with CPW along with CBI regarding this investigation,” said Costilla County Sheriff Danny Sanchez. “Costilla County Sheriff’s Office is in contact with CBI regarding obtaining sampling of the dog’s DNA to compare with any injuries.”

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
