Austin Humane Society rescues 19 dogs from alleged breeding operation in Bastrop County

The Austin Humane Society rescued 19 dogs from what officials described as a “breeding operation” in Bastrop County on Tuesday.

Working with Bastrop County Animal Services, the organization transferred the dogs to its shelter as part of a coordinated effort that removed more than 30 animals from a single property. The dogs, primarily “doodle” mixes ranging from 3 months to 5 years old, had been living mostly outdoors, according to shelter officials.

“The dogs were suffering from flea infestations, fur matting and three of the dogs have tested positive for heartworms,” the Austin Humane Society said.

The animals are undergoing medical and behavioral evaluations and some could be available for adoption as early as Wednesday afternoon, the humane society said. Adoption fees will range from $85 to $200.

All dogs will be spayed or neutered, microchipped, treated for parasites and receive vaccinations before being placed in new homes.

The shelter is seeking both potential adopters and donations to support the animals’ care.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
