BUTLER, Mo. (KCTV) – An arrest warrant has been issued for the owner of a pack of dogs that escaped in 2023 as they attacked and seriously injured a FedEx driver.
Bates County, Missouri, Circuit Court records filed on Monday, April 21, indicate that Dolan R. Rich Jr., 59, of Butler, has been charged after a pack of his dogs attacked a FedEx delivery driver.
A probable cause statement filed by the Butler Police Department revealed that on Jan. 25, 2024, law enforcement officials were called to the area of W. Ohio and N. Orange St. with reports of a possible dog bite.
When first responders arrived, they said they found Rich, who reported four of his dogs had gotten loose and attacked the FedEx driver. The victim was found at Bates County Memorial Hospital, where he was transferred to a trauma center due to his extensive injuries.
Investigators noted that the four dogs were involved in two previous incidents, in March and October, when they attacked another dog and its owner. Rich was warned and previously charged, but continued to fail to control them.
Law enforcement officials indicated that the canines were seized from Rich and later euthanized as a result. Rich has been charged with assault in the second degree and could face up to 15 years behind bars if convicted.
A warrant for Rich’s arrest was issued on Monday with the condition of a $15,000 bond attached. A hearing has not yet been scheduled in the case. As of Friday, April 25, he does not appear to be behind bars.
