Antonio Banderas Named His Dog After This Broadway Show

At the beginning of the year, Antonio Banderas wanted to introduce his followers to a new and very special member of his family. “Gypsy, our beloved little dog, who happens to have the same name as the musical I’m bringing to Madrid starting February 7, is a faithful, fun and loving companion. When in the morning he looks at us like this he reinforces the color of the day and pushes us to live it better,” the actor captioned an image of the long-haired Chihuahua.

In May, he shared a funny video in which his pet “hummed” along with him, proving that art is always present around him. “Gypsy, our little dog, came into our lives just as we were starting rehearsals for Gypsy, musical. He was two months old, and has grown up among dancers, singers, actors and musicians. So, from time to time, he comes up and hums along with us,” Banderas wrote. “It will also be difficult for him to say goodbye to his friends in the company, who are finishing their performances.”

Nicole Kimpel, Banderas’s girlfriend, has just uploaded some nice pictures of Gypsy wearing a denim vest and sunglasses. “Gypsy always rocking it,” she comments. The couple loves dogs and introduced in 2015 on their social networks, Boots, a golden retriever who passed away in 2019. The new member of the clan arrived in November 2024 and since then, he is often seen alongside Banderas on social media.

The actor has unexpectedly been part of Dakota Johnson‘s promotional tour for her movie Materialists. In an interview with Amy Poehler, when the comedian commented on how good Banderas, who is her stepfather, smells, Johnson explained the reason for his wonderful scent. “I admit I don’t know what perfume he wears but he has his own perfume or even his own line of perfume. It’s called something like The Stallion, by Antonio Banderas,” the actor said. “Or Dark Cloud. Or Sexy Cloud,” she added, emulating the accent of the actor whose men’s perfumes, by the way, have lines called The Icon, Seduction and Secret, so in reality, she wasn’t so far off the mark.
