The Walker County Animal Shelter is looking for the community’s help.
They say someone left three dogs on the side of the road near South Washington Street.
Walker County resident Tammy Hales said she called the police after finding one of the dogs lifeless on the road.
“I didn’t think anything of it, and I can’t I just kind of slowed down and stopped, and that’s when I looked over at the bag and I seen the deceased dog,” Hales says.
She says this is the third time she’s had to call about dogs being abandoned on that road.
They actually came and picked up another dog from me in September that someone had dumped out, and then six months before that, I helped another dog, and she was a Macy Egger, really bad.
Walker County Animal Shelter says a police officer was responding Hales’ call when they spotted another dog on the roadway.
They say that officer then located a third dog on the side of the road, locked in a crate.
While Hale understands a dog can be a big responsibility, she says that’s no excuse to abandon them.
Just ask for help. That’s all you got to do. Anybody is willing to help, help an animal, and if you can’t afford it, don’t get it
