Yet, another innocent dog has been found shot in Merced County, following two other cases we told you about recently.
He was found near Mission Avenue and Campus Parkway.
This one, took two hits to his leg. The dog in this case, is also expected to make a full recovery.
FOX26 News spoke with the founder of a Merced Animal Rescue, the shelter that has been taking over these cases and getting the pups the care they deserve.
Sharon Lohman, the founder and president of ‘New Beginnings for Merced County Animals’ says this needs to stop because it’s absolutely heart shattering.
At this time, it’s still unknown who is behind the animal cruelty, but the animal rescue just hopes the person(s) doing this gets caught.
The first dog that was shot happened in the area of M Street and Loughborough drive on Monday.
The second one took place on Tuesday near dinkey creek.
Lohman said, “We’ve never seen this many.”
She hopes someone captured something on camera or knows something.
“I would hope that. Yes, that you know they could be caught, that they could be prosecuted because I just can’t wrap my head around that,” she said.
If it wasn’t for their animal rescue team taking over all three cases and saving these dogs, the dogs would have been put down due to the expensive medical bills and their survival chance.
Lohman took that chance and gave all three dogs another chance at life without thinking of the costs, having faith the community would pitch in, and they did.
I just want to thank the people that have donated because it has really encouraged us. When you see these things, it’s so depressing. It just hurts your heart, takes a piece of your soul, and to see people donating and you know, are rallying behind because they care too, means the world.
New Beginnings for Merced County Animals is still taking donations to continue providing care to the three injured dogs.
