A dog who had his front legs cut off as a punishment for chewing shoes is enjoying life with his new prosthetic limbs.
Cola was rescued in Thailand by the Soi Dog Foundation and brought to live in Hornsea by the charity’s founder John Dalley.
He had his previous pair of crumbling prosthetic legs replaced with a custom made pair in March.
They have given him a new lease of life allowing him to play on the East Yorkshire town’s beach, his owner said.
Mr Dalley said that being gifted a replacement set of legs has been life changing for Cola, who cannot bear missing out on a walk.
“You leave him behind, you can’t take him for a walk, he lets you know he’s very, very, unhappy about it. He howls,” he said.
Cola can manage to get about at home without his prosthetics by jumping “kangaroo style” around the house using his stump as a crutch.
Mr Dalley said having his old legs replaced had been vital.
“If he didn’t have legs his quality of life, for him, would be very poor.”
Mr Dalley said the prosthetic limbs, made by a firm in Stockport, had worked out well.
“He’s doing okay,” he said.
“We have times where one of them in particular gets a bit sore and he has to have a rest from it for a couple of days.”
Mr Dalley added that medication from the vet was helping.
The foundation previously explained how Cola was attacked with a sword in Thailand and needed urgent specialist treatment to survive.
He was transferred to a private clinic in Bangkok to undergo surgery, before being adopted by Mr Dalley and his late wife Gill.
