Fenced fun and tail wags guaranteed

  • Gulf Shores Dog Park: A local favorite with shaded trees, open space, and separate play areas for small and large dogs. Let your pup run free while you relax on a bench and soak in the coastal vibe.
  • Unleashed Dog Park: This well-equipped dog park features agility obstacles, training stations, communal tennis balls, and separate areas for big and small breeds. Shaded seating and water stations make it comfortable for everyone.

Leash up and hit the trails, these dog-friendly nature spots along Alabama’s Gulf Coast offer scenic walks, rich history and plenty of room to roam:

  • Historic Fort Morgan: Step into history with your pup by your side. This 19th-century fort offers self-guided tours, nature trails, beach access, and picnic areas — perfect for a mix of education and playtime.
  • Wade Ward Nature Park: Enjoy a peaceful walk along a raised boardwalk through coastal wetlands. It’s an easy, scenic stroll for dogs and humans, with frequent wildlife sightings, including otters and alligators.
  • Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trail: With more than 27 miles of interconnected trails winding through six diverse ecosystems, this nature-lovers paradise offers endless sights, scents, and squirrel-chasing temptation for your four-legged explorer.

Time to put the doggy paddle skills to use

From sandy beaches to lakeside trails, Alabama’s Gulf Coast has plenty of waterfront spots where dogs are more than welcome, they’re part of the fun:

  • Pirates Cove Marina & Restaurant: Let your pup run free on the sandy shores of this laid-back, pet-friendly beach. Humans can enjoy casual eats and the famous bushwhacker cocktail while dogs splash in the bay. Most visitors arrive by boat, but it’s easily accessible by car too.
  • The Dog Pond at Lake Shelby: This pup-centric park features lakeside access, agility obstacles, and an exercise course with tunnels, hoops and jumps. It’s a perfect spot for active dogs who love to play hard and cool off afterward.
  • Orange Beach Waterfront Park: A family favorite with something for everyone, including your furry friend. Take a stroll on the paved path, enjoy bay breezes from the 400-foot pier, or relax in the shade at picnic areas. Dogs will love the scents, space and waterfront views.
