There were reportedly 10 dogs loose, and police said the animals’ “aggressive nature” required the use of pepper spray. A police sergeant and a firefighter were among the approximately eight people bitten at the scene. No people or dogs were seriously injured.

A female at the scene, who police said was responsible for the dogs, was issued 15 municipal citations and received one criminal offense referral.

It took roughly two hours to secure all the dogs, which were then taken to the Dane County Humane Society.
