After ‘saving’ dogs and cats from immigrants, babbling Trump focuses on … rabbits?

They’re eating the rabbits!

Solar panels, that is.

After being ridiculed for his claim that Haitian immigrants in Ohio were eating their neighbors cats and dogs, Donald Trump has a new crusade to save animals.

Elephants being slaughtered for their ivory tusks? Nope.

Polar bears who are victims of climate change? Nah.

Any of the World Wildlife Fund’s 10 Most Endangered Animals? Sorry.

Trump, during a town hall in event at Doral, Fla., is going to save rabbits — by eliminating solar panels that have been installed on the ground.

“I saw a solar field the other day that looked like it took up half the desert,” Trump said. “I’d never saw anything like. It’s all steel and glass and wires, and looks like hell. And you see rabbits, they get caught in it. And every, you know, for the environmentalists, it’s just terrible.

“I like, you know, some applications where you have it on a roof, or you have it on something but I’m looking at solar fields that are like miles and miles of just … and what it does to your desert areas, or the areas that you’re putting it in, it’s just crazy. We have stuff right into the ground — natural gas.”

There is no evidence solar panels are killing rabbits.

Tomorrow: Trump attacks solar panels on roofs because they’re killing squirrels.

There is no form of renewable energy that Trump appears to favor — he has insisted windmills are killing whales (again, with no evidence) and birds — and he has no renewable energy plan for the future.

When asked about his energy policy, Trump’s go-to response is “Drill, baby, drill,” even though the United States already produces more oil than it has at any time in its history and is the No. 1 oil producer in the world.

According to Reuters:

A victory by Donald Trump in the Nov. 5 presidential election would jeopardize a projected $1 trillion in low-carbon energy investments and carbon emissions would be 1 billion tonnes more by 2050 than under current policies, according to a new analysis …

Trump has said he would reverse many of the Biden administration’s signature climate policies, such as tax credits for electric vehicles and strong emissions standards for cars and power plants. He is expected to once again withdraw the U.S. from the Paris climate agreement.

Meanwhile, the Biden Administration is scrambling to enshrine as much of its renewable energy programs and policies as it can, in a hedge against Trump’s re-election.

The AP reports:

The Biden administration is shelling out billions of dollars for clean energy and approving major offshore wind projects as officials race to secure major climate initiatives before President Joe Biden’s term comes to an end.

Biden wants to establish a legacy for climate action that includes locking in a trajectory for reducing the nation’s planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions. Former President Donald Trump has pledged to rescind unspent funds in Biden’s landmark climate and health care bill and stop offshore wind development if he returns to the White House in January.

Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm told The Associated Press on Friday it would be “political malpractice” to undo clean energy incentives that are benefiting all pockets of America, with most of the investments going to counties with below-average weekly wages and college graduation rates.
