A family dog likely saved a 2-year-old child after barking at a man who was trying to kidnap the toddler in St. Petersburg, according to an affidavit.At 12:05 p.m. on Saturday, 36-year-old Ron Lee Klein Jr. entered a family’s fenced-in backyard through a gate at the back of their home.Klein grabbed the 2-year-old by the arm, and when he tried to pick him up, he was confronted by a barking dog, the document said.The affidavit stated that the barking alerted someone near the child who began running after Klein and yelling at him.Klein let go of the toddler and fled the area. St. Pete police who were in the area located and arrested Klein.According to the affidavit, Klein is facing charges of attempted kidnapping and trespassing to an enclosed area of a dwelling. He is being held without bond.
