GEORGETOWN, Del. – Some of the animals at the Brandywine Valley SPCA’s (BVSPCA) Georgetown campus now have a unique opportunity to find their forever homes throughout the end of the year.
Until Dec. 31, 2024, adoption fees for dogs at least one-year-old and 40 pounds heavy are covered. It’s a tradition that a family of donors does every year in honor of their dogs, Gabriel and Emma.
“Those are other ones that sometimes have a harder time finding homes. So, [this family] helps make that possible. For families looking to adopt, it helps to relieve a little bit of that financial burden, and they can spend the money on a new toy or extra food or a new bed for their new furry friend,” said Sara Smith, Senior Director of Marketing and Communications for BVSPCA.
But those dogs and their kitty counterparts have been shown a little extra love throughout the holiday season.
“Our staff and volunteers come in on holidays no matter what to ensure that our pets get fed, walked, cleaned, and taken care of just like every other day… This year, we had staff and volunteers bring toys and extra food for the animals. We did the ‘Pick Your Stuffie’ trend for the dogs and played with the cats. We’re just so grateful for the dedicated staff and volunteers who want to make the holiday special for these animals,” Smith said.
The BVSPCA Georgetown campus’ open hours through the end of the year are as follows:
- Dec. 26: 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
