Adopt a Dog for Just $15 at Cincinnati Animal CARE in July

If your heart is begging for a new friend to add to your family, now might be the best time to adopt from a local shelter.

Cincinnati Animal CARE (CAC),  Hamilton County’s only open-intake animal shelter, has partnered with the BISSELL Pet Foundation for Summer National Empty the Shelters, an event geared towards ending animal homelessness. 

Between July 8-31, CAC is offering $15 adoption fees for dogs six months and older at both their Colerain Avenue and Dane Avenue locations.

“Every single adoption saves a life and creates space to save another,” writes Cathy Bissell, founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation. “Please adopt and give a pet a chance it might otherwise not have. If you can’t adopt, fostering saves lives when shelters are full. Deserving pets across the country are counting on all of us.”

As of July 9, CAC had 362 adoptable dogs listed as six months old or older. Click here to get acquainted with the sweeties at CAC’s Colerain Avenue and Dane Avenue locations.

CAC’s bid for the Hamilton County Animal Services and Dog Warden contract was recently selected by commissioners over a previous contract holder, Cincinnati SPCA. CAC’s bid now moves to the contract stage and would begin January 2025 and extend through 2034.

“This is a tremendous moment for us, and an endorsement of the incredible work that Cincinnati Animal CARE has done over these past four years,” said CAC executive director, Carolyn Evans. “We’re eager to build upon the lifesaving results already delivered in Hamilton County, and demonstrate just how much can be achieved in partnership with a community that truly cares about the outcomes for its homeless animals.”
