Actor Gene Hackman and his wife and dog were found dead in New Mexico home; What we know

The bodies of Hollywood legend Gene Hackman, 95, his wife Betsy Arakawa, 63, and their dog were found dead at their home in Sante Fe, New Mexico according to news reports.

According to reports, sheriff’s deputies arrived at the Santa Fe home in a gated community to investigate the deaths of two elderly people and a dog on Wednesday around 1:45 p.m.

Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza reported Wednesday evening that there was no immediate indication of foul play. The circumstances or cause of death have not been released and is under investigation.

Eugene Allen Hackman born Jan. 30, 1930 in San Bernardino California was married to classic pianist Arakawa since 1991. They shared their Sant Fe home since 1990. Hackman shares three children with his late ex-wife, Faye Maltese who died in 2017.

The former Marine appeared in over 80 films, spanning an award winning career that included roles in “The French Connection,” “Young Frankenstein,” and “Mississippi Burning.”

Hackman retired from acting in 2004.
