BLOOMING GROVE, Pa. — Five Pit Bulls forced to fight in a Houston, Texas, dog fighting ring were found inside filthy cages in an SUV pulled over Tuesday by state troopers in Pike County, state police at Blooming Grove said.
State police said the vehicle’s driver, Edwin Bradley, is a “transport man” for people who want Pit Bull delivered for dog fights and faced charges in the past for felony dog fighting three times in Houston, where he lives. He was arrested on charges of driving under the influence.
It was unclear precisely where he was allegedly taking the dogs.
The dogs were locked in small, unsanitary cages. Some had open sores that were actively bleeding.
Troopers seized the dogs and will take them to an animal rescue in Philadelphia.
Bradley, 41, is jailed in Pike County in lieu of $25,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 18.
