Princess Anne is well-known across the country and the world for being among the hardest-working members of the Royal Family.
Just last year, Anne, 76, completed the most royal engagements in the Royal Family, despite having to step back from royal duty for a brief period of time following an injury.
Despite working hard for decades, The Princess Royal shut down retirement rumours last week and appears to want to continue with her royal work for as long as possible.
And as she powers through dozens of engagements every month, the King’s sister reportedly always does so with one bizarre item in her handbag to give her much-needed energy – a kiwi.
This was revealed by the Daily Mail’s Robert Hardman in the bestselling royal biography Queen Of Our Times, which reported Anne’s daughter Zara Tindall saying: “She always has a kiwi fruit.”
The fruit is often kept in the Princess Royal’s handbag and often replaces lunch when Anne is out on royal duty, Hardman said.
As reported by Hello!, not only will kiwi give an instant energy boost to the princess, but it is also great for heart health, digestive health, and immunity.
As it is high in antioxidants, it is also believed the fruit can help prevent certain diseases.
While some may find this lunchtime snack unusual, Anne is not the only royal to rely on a green fruit for lunch.
As reported by various publications last year, King Charles has begun eating avocado for lunch – a meal he had previously always skipped before his cancer diagnosis.
A source close to the Royal Family told The Mail on Sunday last year that this superfood is now part of the monarch’s daily routine. They said: “With some reluctance, he now has something to eat at lunchtime – a snack, really.
“He now eats half an avocado to sustain him through the day. It’s important, particularly if you have got an illness.”
